not just what, but how and why, too

The internet is coming of age

When the internet was born, it was born guilty. It was about annonymity, pornography and gambling. In many ways it still is. But now it seems it's growing up a bit. It's not becoming innocent, but it is becoming wholesome. It's allowing old ladies to shop online, degree students to do homework on Wikipedia, and Google to take over everything.

Now is the time to make the web a better place. More accessible, more applicable and more relavant. The fastest growing medium needs to be exploited for the good. And that's gonna mean we have to use the latest and best technology to make shopping simple enough for Dora. It means scratching our heads to find ways of making the web an easier and more efficient workplace for charities.
It means using the social networking opportunities of the internet to express our opinions to governments and corporations, to work for change.

And that's going to mean lots of people have to work hard on improving the internet for a good while yet. And I want to be one of those people. So, what next? »
