Reputation within the University
It’s not good.
The university (i.e. the powers that be) don’t necessarily like DUCK. It is seen as a big (£320,000 per annum), un-wieldy, un-controllable (i.e. student run) organisation. In the past DUCK/rag has been associated with chancellor’s cars and prison break-ins, disturbing lectures with hilarious stunts and general mischevity.
Potential areas for improvement:
- Better, more visible liaison with the uni- seeking out and being seen to follow it’s advice (or at least, an attempt at lip service)
- More focus on involving the staff- inviting lectures to do sponsored stuff, participate in DUCK week, warnings of especially disruptive shennanigans.
- Giving something to the uni- investing perhaps or contributing to it’s chartable projects?
- Involving more staff with a staff ball?
I’m not currently aware of how much this is seen to. Apologies if you already work hard for DUCK on this stuff, I’m thinking aloud!
